SYNOPSIS

The life of the lawyer Giovanna Cau, told by herself and by the people – her clients and her friends – who know her and have worked and lived with her, sharing honours, political ideas and successes as well as more serious and dramatic times. A miracle of longevity, foresight and intelligence, for a disillusioned and practical gaze on how the important names of Italian cinema have written the history of this art: an exemplary biography of a woman committed to politics, culture, her family and her work.

Her professional life covered more than sixty years of Italian history and, in some ways, aimed to offer a testimony and be a mirror of this country. She was one of the five female lawyers who practised in Rome in the 1950s. She actively collaborated on building up and establishing one of the most important law firms in the capital, working in the field of the cinema, but not exclusively. The film relates her personal and existential path from Fascist and post-war Italy to the present day.
